Distribution and outsourcing company Bunzl Plc (BNZL.L) said Tuesday that it acquired Worldpack Trading B.V. from two private companies owned by Hans and Jos Bergen.
Based in Son near Eindhoven and in Heerenveen, Worldpack is a distributor throughout Benelux of promotional packaging and point-of-sale items for the non-food retail sector. In fiscal 2007, Worldpack generated revenues of EUR 19 million and the gross assets acquired are estimated to be EUR 7 million.
Commenting on the acquisition, Michael Roney, chief executive of Bunzl, stated, "The acquisition of Worldpack is a good strategic fit with our existing Benelux retail supplies businesses and will further strengthen our position in this market."
BNZL.L is currently trading at 649.50 pence, down 5 pence or 0.76%, on a volume of 307K shares.
