OfficeMax Inc. (OMX), a business-to-business and retail office products distributor, said Tuesday that it is adding home and in-store tech support options to ctrlcenter, its web-based tech support service.

With the addition of the new feature to its services, customers can now leave their desktop or laptop computer at any of its retail centers for servicing. Alternatively, customers can also arrange at these locations to have a ctrlcenter service technician perform at-home or office installations, as well as set-up services.

The Naperville, Illinois-based company noted that it has more than 900 stores located spread over the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Further, its ctrlcenter maintains a support team of more than 2,500 technicians for wider and speedier reach.

Office Max's ctrlcenter is powered by HiWired and was first launched as an affordable service to offer small businesses, home office workers, and other personal computers round the clock support for personal computers and consumer electronic devices, including digital cameras, smart phones, Palm Pilots, and iPods.

OMX closed Friday's regular trading on the NYSE at $12.24, up $0.10, with a volume of 887,300 shares.
