Swiss Jobless Rate Holds Steady At 2.4% In September

Friday, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs or SECO said the Swiss jobless rate stood at 2.4% in September, unchanged from August. The rate matched economists' expectations.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged up to 2.6% in September from 2.5% in August. Economists had expected the rate to remain unchanged at 2.5%.

The number of unemployed stood at 95,980 in September, up 1,941 from August. However, the jobless number declined by 3.7% or 3,701 year-on-year.

There were 145,937 registered job seekers in September, up 2,388 from August.

Meanwhile, the number of vacancies reported rose by 369 to 14,132.
