VMware Inc. (VMW) announced that its fourth-quarter GAAP net income was $56.41 million or $0.14 per share, compared to $111.45 million or $0.29 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2008. Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $127 million or $0.31 per share, compared to $142 million or $0.36 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2008.
Revenues for the fourth quarter were $608.20 million, an increase of about 18% from $514.60 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.26 per share on revenues of $553.73 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company anticipates first quarter revenues to be in the range of $580 million and $600 million, an increase of 23% to 28% from the first quarter 2009. Thirty analysts have consensus revenue estimate of $530.27 million for the quarter.
The company expect annual 2010 revenue to be in the range of $2.45 billion and $2.55 billion, an increase of 21% to 26% from 2009. Thirty three analysts have consensus revenue estimate of $2.28 billion for fiscal 2010.
