DCCC Unveils 13 Candidates For Its Red To Blue Program

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Wednesday that it has named the first thirteen candidates to its Red to Blue program.

The Red to Blue program is an effort by the DCCC to support Democrats in competitive districts around the U.S. currently held by Republicans.

Ami Bera (California), Paula Brooks (Ohio), John Callahan (Pennsylvania), John Carney (Delaware), Suzan DelBene (Washington), Lori Edwards (Florida), Raj Goyle (Kansas), Roy Herron (Tennessee), Bryan Lentz (Pennsylvania), Rob Miller (South Carolina), Steve Pougnet (California), Dan Seals (Illinois) and Tom White (Nebraska) have been selected for the program.

"These candidates have come out of the gate strong and the Red to Blue Program will give them the financial and structural edge to be even more competitive in November," said Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the DCCC.

He added, "These candidates are generating excitement back home and are making the case to voters that their commitment to creating jobs and standing up for the middle class is far better than turning back the clock to the failed Bush policies of the past."

According to the DCCC, the candidates earned a spot in the program by "surpassing demanding fundraising goals and skillfully demonstrating to voters that they will work to create jobs and stand up for the middle class."

Back in 2008, the DCCC supported 63 candidates on the Red to Blue list, with 27 of those candidates winning. In 2006, 27 out of 56 Red to Blue candidates won.
