Gold Flat In Asian Trading

The price of gold was steady near its seven-week high in Asian trading Monday amid a steady U.S. dollar.

Gold for April delivery, the most actively traded contract, edged down $2.40 to $1,733.00 an ounce. Last week, gold advanced over 4 percent to settle above the $1,700-mark for the first time in seven weeks as the U.S dollar remained weak following the the Federal Reserve's pledge to keep interest rates low at near zero through late 2014.

Holdings of SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, moved up to 1,271.09 tons from 1,261.10 tons.
