Private-equity firm Apollo Global Management LLC (APO) is close to deal to acquire El Paso Corp.'s oil-and-gas exploration unit for about $7 billion, the Wall Strret Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter said.
A deal between El Paso and Apollo and Riverstone Partners, an energy-focused private equity firm, may be signed as soon as Friday, the report said.
