Growth of retail sales in China eased more than expected in February, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Friday.
Retail sales increased 14.7 percent year-on-year in February, much weaker than the 18.1 percent growth recorded in the previous month. Economists expected a 17.3 percent increase in sales last month.
Despite the sluggish growth in overall sales at retail outlets, car sales surged 12.7 percent from a year earlier. Spending on petroleum and petroleum products climbed 20.4 percent.
