Malta's EU measure of inflation accelerated for the second month in a row in February to a 4-month high, data from the National Statistics Office showed Wednesday.
The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) increased 2.4 percent annually in February, faster than the 1.5 percent rise in January. In December, inflation fell to a 20-month low of 1.3 percent.
Month-on-month, the HICP rose 0.6 percent in February, reversing the 1.1 percent decline in the previous month.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased 6.8 percent annually in February, while clothing and footwear prices dropped 3.6 percent in February. Transport costs rose 4.9 percent, while communication costs declined 7.6 percent.
