Clarcor Inc. (CLC) reported that its first-quarter net earnings attributable to the company rose to $23.48 million or $0.46 per share, from $21.88 million or $0.43 per share in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.47 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales for the quarter rose to $257.26 million from $245.72 million in the prior year quarter. Four analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $267.93 million for the quarter.
The company confirmed its 2012 earnings guidance in a range of $2.55 to $2.70 per share. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $2.68 per share for fiscal 2012.
