German insolvency courts reported 2,321 business insolvencies in January, up 0.7 percent from a year ago, the Federal Statistical Office said Friday.
The number of consumer insolvencies totaled 8,236, which was 2.6 percent less than in January 2011.
Together with the insolvencies of other private debtors and of estates, the courts registered a total of 12,635 insolvencies, marking a 1.3 percent decrease from a year ago.
