Malaysia's annual inflation slowed and matched economists' forecast in March, data released by the Department of Statistics showed Friday.
The consumer price index increased 2.1 percent annually in March, slightly slower than February's 2.2 percent growth. The latest figure matched economists' forecast.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices advanced 2.9 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices edged down 0.4 percent. There was a 1.8 percent year-on-year increase in housing costs and utility prices during the month, and a 1.3 percent gain in transportation costs.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained unchanged in March, as they did in the previous month. In the January-March period, consumer prices increased 2.3 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier.
