OECD Unemployment Rate Remains Stable

Unemployment in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area remained unchanged in March, latest data showed.

The unemployment rate remained steady at 8.2 percent in March, as increasing jobless rates in some euro area countries were offset by declines in North America. Unemployed has remained in the current level since February 2011.

The jobless rate in the European Union remained steady at 10.2 percent in March, while in the Eurozone it rose to 10.9 percent from 10.8 percent.

In the United States, the unemployment rate was 8.2 percent in during the month, down from the previous month's 8.3 percent. In Germany, unemployment remained unchanged at 5.6 percent for the the fifth month in a row.

In France, the jobless rate held steady at 10 percent for the second straight month in March. At the same time, Japan's jobless rate remained unchanged at 4.5 percent.
