NetApp Q4 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

NetApp Inc. (NTAP) reported that its fourth-quarter GAAP net income was $180.7 million, or $0.47 per share, up from $160.6 million, or $0.40 per share, for the same period a year ago.

Non-GAAP net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2012 was $252.4 million, or $0.66 per share, compared to non-GAAP net income of $236.7 million, or $0.59 per share for the same period a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.63 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2012 totaled $1.70 billion, up 19% compared to revenues of $1.43 billion for the same period one year ago. Twenty eight analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $1.68 billion for the quarter.

The company estimates that first quarter fiscal year 2013 GAAP earnings per share will be approximately $0.10 to $0.15 per share. The company expects that first quarter fiscal year 2013 non-GAAP earnings per share will be approximately $0.34 to $0.39 per share.

The company also estimates revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 to be in the range of $1.40 billion to $1.50 billion, which equates to a sequential decline of approximately 12% to 18% and a year-over-year decline of approximately 4% to an increase of 3%.

Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.59 per share on revenues of $1.61 billion for the first-quarter.
