Vietnam Inflation Slows Notably In May

Vietnam's annual inflation slowed to a single-digit 8.34 percent in May, the General Statistics Office said Thursday. The rate fell from 10.54 percent in April.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained only 0.18 percent in May.

Food and foodstuff prices advanced 8.45 percent annually, and clothing and footwear prices climbed 9.68 percent. Housing and construction material prices grew 8.09 percent.
