Rumors are swirling that Google's new tablet device will hit the consumer marketplace in July. The new tab is being created in collaboration with Asus, and this week Digitimes revealed that the device is due this summer and was originally scheduled for release in May.
According to the report Google has ordered 600,000 units, which are currently on their way to the US for release in July. They are expecting total sales in the range of 2 million before the close of 2012. Thus far there has been no official word from Google, who may be waiting to debut the tablet at their annual I/O conference on June 27-29.
Google apparently delayed the project from its initial release date because "design and costs did not reach its expectations, and the product was delayed for some minor adjustments," according to techradar.com.
