Swiss Q1 GDP Growth Beats Forecast

The Swiss economy expanded 0.7 percent quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2012, data released by the State Secretariat For Economic Affairs showed Thursday.

The outcome was much better than the economists' forecast for a zero growth. This compares to 0.5 percent economic growth in the fourth quarter.

Annually, the gross domestic product rose 2 percent, faster than the expected 0.7 percent expansion.
