China HSBC Manufacturing PMI Falls In May

An indicator of China's manufacturing performance declined further in May, signaling seventh successive month of deteriorating operating conditions, a survey by Markit Economics revealed Friday.

The HSBC purchasing managers' index fell to 48.4 in May from 49.3 in April. The flash survey results, released last month, showed a reading of 48.7 for May.

A PMI reading below 50 indicates contraction in activity and the PMI has now scored below the neutral mark for a seventh successive month.
