German Manufacturing Turnover Declines In April

Germany's manufacturing turnover declined in April despite an increase in sales to euro area countries, data from the Federal Statistical Office showed Friday.

Manufacturing turnover was down 1.3 percent month-on-month, reversing a revised 0.4 percent rise in March. Domestic turnover decreased 1.6 percent and the business with foreign customers fell 1.9 percent.

Sales to euro area countries were 1.5 percent above preceding month's level, while sales to other countries slid 4.2 percent.

On a yearly basis, real manufacturing turnover dropped 0.7 percent in April. During January to April, the working-day adjusted turnover in manufacturing was 0.8 percent above the level of the same period of the previous year.
