Production in Italy's industrial sector declined at a faster pace in April, data from the statistical office Istat showed Friday.
Output fell 9.2 percent year-on-year in April. The rate of decline, however, was milder than the 9.8 percent expected by economists. In March, output fell 5.6 percent. Production has now fallen for eight consecutive months.
The unadjusted index of industrial production decreased 11.9 percent compared with April 2011. On a seasonally adjusted basis, industrial output decreased 1.9 percent compared with the previous month.
