Global hiring confidence showed positive third quarter hiring ahead in most labor markets, despite a general softening trend from the prior year, the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for the third quarter revealed Tuesday.
Nonetheless, it said hiring activity is expected to slow from last year at this time in two-thirds of the countries and territories surveyed.
While U.S. job prospects continue to improve, Indian employers post one of their most optimistic forecasts on record. Canadian employers expect the hiring climate to remain favorable for the third quarter.
Meanwhile, the German labor market is expected to lose steam in the quarter ahead. Elsewhere, Chinese employers estimate hiring pace to remain active in the third quarter.
Worldwide, employer hiring expectations are weakest in Greece, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Hungary.
"There is no doubt that the ongoing concerns and uncertainty in Europe continue to weigh on the minds of employers in the global labor market and four consecutive quarters of softening in our German data reflect this," said Jeffrey Joerres, Chairman and CEO of ManpowerGroup.
According to the survey, employers in 33 of 41countries and territories surveyed expect varying degrees of positive hiring activity for the third quarter. About 32 labor markets anticipate relatively stable or improved hiring activity.
