Finnish Inflation Stable In May

Finland's consumer price inflation remained unchanged in May, data released by Statistics Finland showed Wednesday.

Annual inflation remained unchanged from the previous month at 3.1 percent in May, which was in line with economists' expectations. In March, the rate of inflation was 2.9 percent.

Consumer prices were pushed up year-on-year mainly due to higher prices for food, housing and transport, the agency said.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained flat in May, and matched economists' forecast. In April, the consumer price index increased 0.34 percent month-on-month.

At the same time, the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), measured under the EU methodology, gained 3.1 percent annually in May, while on a monthly basis it decreased 0.1 percent.
