Champion Industries Inc. (CHMP) Thursday reported second quarter net loss of $21 million or $1.86 per share, compared to net income of $0.5 million or $0.05 per share last year.
Results for the second quarter 2012 were reflective of pre-tax non-cash charges of $9.5 million related to impairment of goodwill at the newspaper segment, and an increase in the deferred tax asset valuation allowance of $15.2 million.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the second quarter 2012 were $0.23 million.
Revenue for the quarter was $33.4 million, up from $31 million a year ago.
Huntington-based Champion Industries Inc. operates as a commercial printer, business forms manufacturer, and office products and office furniture supplier.
