Estonia Output Price Inflation Slows In May

Estonia's output price inflation decelerated from the previous month in May, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Wednesday.

The producer price index increased 2 percent on an annual basis in May, slower than the 2.6 percent growth seen in April.

Prices in the manufacturing sector gained 1.5 percent annually, while mining and quarrying prices rose 1.6 percent. The annual growth in prices was primarily influenced by increase in prices in the manufacture of food products and heat energy.

There was a 6.3 percent annual growth in output prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply during the month.

Compared to April, output prices remained unchanged during the month, the agency said. .

At the same time, export prices in Estonia rose 1 percent sequentially in May, taking the annual growth to 2.1 percent. The import price index, meanwhile, remained unchanged month-on-month, but advanced 3.8 percent annually, data showed.
