Inflation in Singapore eased to a three-month low of 5 percent in May from 5.4 percent in April, the latest figures from Statistics Singapore showed Monday.
Economists had forecast the rate to fall to 5.1 percent. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index moved up by 0.2 percent.
Food prices increased 2.5 percent year-on-year in May, while transport charges climbed 9.2 percent. Housing costs were 8.2 percent higher than a year earlier.
