Seagate Technology (STX) is rising in pre-market trading on news that it will be added to the S&P 500.
Shares of the hard-drive maker are higher by $0.64, or 2.75 percent, to $23.91.
S&P Indices said late Monday that Seagate will replace Progress Energy, Inc. (PGN) in the S&P 500 index after the close of trading on Friday, June 29. S&P 500 constituent Duke Energy Corp. (DUK) is acquiring Progress Energy in a deal expected to close soon pending final approvals.
