New Zealand posted an overseas trade surplus of NZ$301 million in May, according to data released Wednesday by Statistics NZ.
The agency said the value of exported goods fell NZ$202 million or 4.4 percent on year.
Imports were up NZ$46 million or 1.1 percent.
Statistics NZ said the trade balance of $301 million represented 6.8 percent of exports. It follows surpluses of $906 million in May 2009, $770 million in May 2010 and $550 million in May 2011.
The agency said there was a trade deficit of NZ$805 million for the full year ending in May 2012.
