Retail sales in Germany decreased for a second consecutive month in May, the latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office showed Friday.
Sales fell 0.3 percent month-on-month in real terms in May, following a 0.2 percent decline in the previous month. The May outcome was against expectations for an increase of 0.2 percent.
Year-on-year, sales fell 1.1 percent in real terms, confounding forecast for a 1.9 percent increase. In April, retail sales were down 4.3 percent compared to the same month last year.
