Zep Inc. (ZEP), a producer of cleaning and maintenance solutions, Tuesday said its third-quarter net income increased to $8.62 million or $0.39 per share from $6.24 million or $0.28 per share in the previous year.
The company noted that the quarterly results reflected strong sales in retail and distribution channels resulting from new and expanded customer relationships.
Net sales for the quarter grew 5.2 percent to $176.63 million from $167.92 million a year ago. Organic sales growth was 5 percent. The company said its organic sales were driven by 23 percent increase in Retail and 5 percent growth in Distribution.
"These results give us continued confidence that our performance in the second half of the fiscal year will improve relative to the second half of last fiscal year," said Mark Bachmann, executive vice president and chief financial officer.
