Marten Transport Ltd. (MRTN) Tuesday reported an increase in profit for the second quarter, due mainly to higher revenues.
The Mondovi, Wisconsin-based company's second-quarter net profit was $7.58 million or $0.34 per share, compared to $6.19 million or $0.28 per share last year. On average, seven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.33 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total operating revenues for the quarter grew to $156.96 million from $151.14 million in the prior-year quarter. Five analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $163.74 million for the quarter.
