Irish Residential Property Prices Fall Further In June

Residential property prices in Ireland continued their downward trend in June, data released by the Central Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

The residential property price index dropped by 14.4 percent in June compared to a year earlier, after falling 15.3 percent in May. In April, the rate of decline was 16.4 percent. Prices have fallen regularly since January 2008, when they edged up 0.2 percent.

Prices of houses fell by 14 percent year-on-year during the month, while apartment prices plunged 19.9 percent, data showed.

In Dublin, residential property prices were 16.4 percent lower than a year ago, as both house prices and apartment prices decreased notably.

Month-on-month, overall residential property prices decreased 1.1 percent in June, reversing the previous month's 0.2 percent gain.
