The Lithuanian economy expanded at a notably slower pace In the second quarter, preliminary data released by the Department of Statistics showed Monday.
Gross domestic product (GDP) increased 2.1 percent on an annual basis in the second quarter, slower than the 3.9 percent gain recorded in the first quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2011, the rate of growth was 4.4 percent.
On a seasonally and working-day adjusted basis, the GDP moved up 0.4 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, after growing 0.3 percent in the previous quarter, data showed.
Sequentially, the economy expanded by 8.5 percent during the three-month period, recovering from the first quarter's 7.2 percent contraction.
