Slovenia's Inflation Rises In July

Slovenia's annual inflation increased from the previous month in July, data released by the Statistical Office showed Tuesday.

The consumer price index increased 2.4 percent year-on-year in July, after rising 2.3 percent in the previous month.

Compared to June, consumer prices decreased 1 percent during the month. In the seven months ended July, prices moved up 1.1 percent from a year earlier, the agency said.

At the same time, the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), measured under the EU methodology, grew 2.6 percent year-on-year in July. On a monthly basis, the HICP decreased by 0.8 percent.

Separately, the agency said Slovenia's retail sales volume increased 2.4 percent in June compared to May. On an annual basis, sales decreased by 0.5 percent.

The country's import price index increased 0.3 percent on an annual basis in June. Compared to the previous month, import prices were lower by 1.5 percent, the agency said.
