Unit Corp. (UNT) posted second-quarter net loss of $19.3 million or $0.40 per share versus net income of $49.8 million or $1.04 per share last year. Excluding impairment of oil and natural gas properties, net income rose to $52.83 million or $1.10 per share from $49.82 million or $1.04 per share in the previous year.
Total revenues for the three-month period rose to $329.9 million from $291.5 million in the prior year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.99 per share on revenues of $329.89 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
