Allstate Corp. (ALL) reported that its second-quarter net income was $423 million, or $0.86 per share, compared to a net loss of $624 million, or $1.19 per share in the prior year quarter.
Operating income for the quarter was $432 million, or $0.87 per share, compared to an operating loss of $647 million, or $1.24 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Consolidated revenues for the quarter rose to $8.28 billion from $8.08 billion last year.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.51 per share on revenues of $6.82 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
