Internet giant Google, Inc. (GOOG) said Tuesday that it has acquired social media marketing start-up Wildfire Interactive, Inc.
Although the purchase price was not officially disclosed, media reports said, citing a person familiar with the deal, that Google paid $250 million for the business.
Founded by Victoria Ransom and Alain Chuard in 2008, Wildfire provides a software platform that integrates directly with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Wildfire has about 400 employees and powers social media marketing for more then 16,000 businesses, including 30 of the top 50 global brands.
