EchoStar Corp. (SATS) Wednesday released the financial results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2012, reporting net income attributable to common shareholders for the second quarter of $36 million, double than the net income of $18 million reported for the corresponding quarter last year. Earnings per share were $0.41 for the second quarter, compared with earnings per share of $0.21 for the same period in 2011.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.08 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenue for the second quarter increased 38 percent to $806 million, compared with $584 million reported for the corresponding period last year.
