Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) reported net earnings of $50 million or $1.00 per share for the second quarter compared to $40 million or $0.80 per share a year ago.
Revenues for the three-month period were up to $1.72 billion from $1.56 billion in the prior year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.69 per share on revenues of $1.61 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
