Mitel Cuts Q1 Revenue Outlook; To Cut 200 Jobs And Close Excess Facilities

Mitel Networks Corp. (MITL, MNW.TO) said Wednesday that it now expects first quarter revenue to be in the range of $138 million to $139 million, compared to its prior guidance of $150 million to $155 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters currently expect the company to post revenue of $153.53 million for the first quarter.

"Our results reflect orders booked that did not ship in the quarter, implementation delays on several customer projects and a general deterioration in the macro environment," said Richard McBee, chief executive officer, Mitel. "We remain confident in our strategy and product leadership, however we are taking immediate actions to size the business cost structure consistent with our broader macroeconomic concerns."

The company also said it will implement a restructuring plan during its second fiscal quarter to include a reduction of about 200 full-time employees, and the closure of excess facilities.

Mitel said it will release its first quarter financial results after the market closes on August 30.
