Brightpoint Inc. (CELL) Wednesday reported a loss for the second quarter, compared to a profit last year. Loss was driven mainly by lower margins.
Loss from continuing operations, attributable to common shareholders, was $4.2 million or $0.06 per share, compared to a profit of $11.8 million or $0.18 per share in the same period last year.
Adjusted earnings were $9.2 million or $0.13 per share, compared to $16.3 million or $0.23 per share last year.
On average, six analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.15 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues totaled $1.27 billion, up from $1.23 billion last year. Analysts expected revenues of $1.34 billion.
Gross margin was 6.2 percent, compared to 7.5 percent last year.
