Portugal's merchandise trade deficit decreased from last year in the second quarter, data released by Statistics Portugal showed Thursday.
The trade deficit decreased to EUR2.351 billion in the second quarter from EUR4.325 billion in the same quarter a year earlier.
Export of goods increased 6.8 percent on an annual basis in the second quarter. The value of imports, meanwhile, declined 8.3 percent during the period.
In the month of June, overall shipments increased 9.2 percent year-on-year. Compared to May, exports dropped 2.1 percent. Arrivals were lower by 2.4 percent from June last year, while month-on-month, they fell by 9 percent, data showed.
