A political action committee supporting GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has made a $10 million ad buy taking aim at President Barack Obama's re-election bid.
The group, Restore Our Future, has bought a spot called "Another Month" which begins by highlighting the 8.3 percent unemployment rate followed by a clip of Obama joking that "Shovel-ready was not as shovel-ready as we expected," referencing the 2009 stimulus bill.
An announcer intones, "If you had President Obama's record, what would you do? Would you joke?"
The ads will cost $10.5 million and will run from Tuesday through August 21st.
The ad goes on to accuse Obama of "denying reality," using two separate sound-bite comments from him.
The first comment, from July, involves Obama comparing the policies of Bill Clinton to those of Republicans, while the second was the president's much-maligned "the private sector is doing fine" remark.
The ad then accuses Obama and his allies of "shameful, dishonest attacks," saying that is "the only strategy Obama has left."
The ad is airing in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Super PACs such as Restore Our Future can accept unlimited financial donations but cannot act in concert with campaigns.
