The number of tourists staying at Finland's accommodation establishments increased from last year in June, preliminary data released by Statistics Finland showed Thursday.
Overall tourist overnight stays increased 5 percent on an annual basis to around 2.1 million in June, the agency said.
The number of foreign tourists who spent nights at Finnish accommodation facilities rose 6 percent year-on-year to around 557,000 during the month, while stays by resident tourists advanced 5 percent.
With around 100,000 nights spent, Russians continued to be the biggest group of foreigners at accommodation establishments during the month, followed by Germans who spent around 76,000 nights.
In the January-June period, total overnight stays increased 4 percent from the same period last year, with the number of stays by foreign and domestic tourists rising 11 percent and 2 percent respectively, data showed.
