The preliminary report of the Reuters/University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey for August is due at 9:55 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the dollar showed mixed performance against other major currencies. While the dollar moved sideways against the yen and the pound, it was up against the franc and euro.
At 9:50 am ET, the greenback was quoted at 0.9746 against the franc, 79.45 against the yen, 1.2327 against the euro and 1.5717 against the pound.
