Aspen Technology Inc. (AZPN) Tuesday reported a loss for the fourth quarter compared to a profit last year, despite higher revenues.
The Burlington, Massachusetts-based company's fourth-quarter net loss was $5.39 million or $0.06 per share, compared to a net profit of $41.68 million or $0.43 per share last year.
Adjusted loss for the quarter was $3.45 million or $0.04 per share, compared to $19.02 million or $0.20 per share in the prior-year quarter. On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected loss of $0.04 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenues for the quarter grew to $64.02 million from $52.65 million in the prior-year quarter. Eight analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $62.34 million for the quarter.
