Russian gas pipeline systems operator Oao Gazprom (OGZPF.PK, OGZPY.PK, GAZP) posted lower first-quarter pre-tax profit of 456.3 billion Russian Rubles, versus 591.07 billion Russian Rubles a year before. Profit attributable to owners of OAO Gazprom slid to 357.84 billion Russian Rubles, from last year's 478.5 billion Russian Rubles.
Sales for the latest quarter totaled 1.22 trillion Russian Rubles, a decrease from 1.32 trillion Russian Rubles in the prior-year period. Sales, net of VAT, excise tax and customs duties, were down 7% year-on-year to 1.22 trillion Russian Rubles in the three months ended March 31, 2012.
