Ford Recalls Certain 2012 Edge Vehicles Due To Dangerous Fuel Line Problem

Ford Motor Co. (F) is recalling 2012 Edge vehicles manufactured from September 2, 2010, through October 31, 2011, due to a potentially dangerous fuel line problem. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. The recall affects 5,499 vehicles, equipped with 2.0L engines, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about September 24, 2012.
