IMF Likely To Cut Global Economic Forecast, Official Says

The International Monetary Fund may lower its forecasts for the global economy next month, reports said Thursday citing remarks by Hoe Ee Khor, assistant director of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department.

"The global economy has weakened. We are shaving off our forecast for global growth by a few decimal points," the official was quoted as saying.

The Fund is expected to unveil its new forecasts on October 9. In its most recent edition of the World Economic Outlook released in July, the IMF projected the global economic growth at 3.5 percent in 2012 and 3.9 percent in 2013.
