Apple Inc. (AAPL), in a late-Friday filing, requested a court in U.S. to provide it with additional damages of $707 million, in its patent lawsuit against Samsung. Apple filed the request in the same court that ruled last month that Samsung's products infringed Apple patents. The tech giant has also asked for a wider U.S. ban on Samsung smartphones and tablets, in addition to, "any other product with a feature or features not more than colorably different from any of the infringing feature or features in any of the Infringing Products." In response, samsung has filed a request for a fresh trial to be held.
Last month, San Jose, Calif., court ruled that Samsung had infringed on a number of key patents of Apple and awarded $1.05 billion in damages. Following the ruling, Apple requested to ban Samsung products mentioned in the trial. Now, the company is requesting to ban other products from Samsung that potentially infringe the design patents.
