DISH Fails To Sign An Agreement With Gannett Broadcasting

Dish Network Corp. (DISH) said it was not able to reach an agreement with Gannett Broadcasting as Gannett demanded to pay a significant penalty for accessing to AutoHop, a commercial-skipping technology.

Dave Shull, senior vice president at Dish said, "We have agreed to pay a significant increase in fees to continue to carry Gannett's local stations, more than 200 percent, the same as our closest direct competitor. But Gannett wants money on top of that for the expressed reason that our customers have access to AutoHop. We will continue to take a stand for customer choice and control.

Dish further said it would stand shoulder to shoulder with viewers in this issue and the consumers have the choice to watch what they want.

DISH through its subsidiary DISH Network L.L.C. provides approximately 14.061 million satellite TV customers.
